Disk Search With File Search Assistant
File search can turn into a major problem even for experienced PC user,
unless proper software is used. The point is that the majority of
conventional tools (usually built in OS) do not have advanced file search
features. In other words, the process of looking for missing files may
require some time. Moreover, such a search may fail unless a user has
sufficient information on missing files, such as keywords, size, file type
etc. File Search Assistant (FSA) is convenient and efficient software to
look for missing files and folders.

Often disk search is a lengthy and bothersome procedure, especially if a
user has little information about missing documents. However, with File
Search Assistant the search process is optimized and adjusted as per user’s
needs and available information. The main search criteria and features of
FSA include:
Search filters. File Search Assistant uses several powerful search
filters to narrow down search results and efficiently look for missing
documents, namely
- a) Search by file type. For instance, if a user wants to find a file
with the exact extension, it is possible to adjust FSA search
accordingly, i.e. exclude certain extensions from search. Thus, users
may look for exe or docx files only or all file extensions except for
txt or xml.
- b) Search by size. In case, a user is aware of approximate document
size, it is possible to look for files of certain size, i.e. all files
larger than 2MB or under 1MB. This feature saves time and contributes to
accuracy of search results. As a rule, office documents are not large,
thus why not use this info on search?
- c) Search by date. Every file has creation date, as well as dates on
which it was modified or last accessed. File Search assistant can use
this information to search for missing files. For instance, if a missing
document as opened on a particular date, it is recommended to enter this
info in a relevant tab of FSA. As a result, the software will look for
documents accessed on this particular date only, which will cut off
undesired search results (for instance, documents that contain the same
keyword).
- d) Search in particular location. In FSA it is possible to specify
target folders, which is extremely time saving especially if a user has
a huge hard drive. Thus, users may specify location where missing files
might possible be found, for instance My Documents folder.
